The Suffolk Agricultural Association (SAA) is delighted to sponsor the Community Involvement category of the East Anglian Daily Times Business Awards. As a charity, the SAA is deeply rooted in the county and is best known for organising the Suffolk Show, at Trinity Park, Ipswich, where all strands of Suffolk life converge, making for a natural fit with a category that focuses on celebrating community involvement.
The core purpose of the SAA is to promote awareness of food, farming and the countryside and its importance to the economy and character of Suffolk. In addition to the county show, the SAA runs a diverse programme of agricultural education initiatives. The flagship education event is the School Farm and Country Fair which takes place each April, attracting more than 4,000 pupils from schools across the county to a day of interactive displays depicting all aspects of food and farming. Other initiatives include Tractors into Schools, Suffolk Farming School of the Year and a Food and Farming Student Day.
The SAA also operates Trinity Park Conferences and Events, a purpose-built venue which has been the setting for many community and fundraising events since it opened a decade ago.
In judging the entrants for the Community Involvement award, the SAA is looking forward to seeing how other local organisations engage with their local communities. Phillip Ainsworth, chief executive of the SAA said: “As a charity, we are rooted in the Suffolk community and sponsorship of this award is a natural extension of the Suffolk Show which showcases the best of Suffolk.”
